I bought this unit after taking a welding and metal working class. I really wanted a Plasma cutter for sheet metal and the ability to stick weld. I have had it about 3 years now without a problem, welding a lot of 1/8 angle and sheet, some 1/4 lots of repair work on old rusty metal. I do a lot of metal art with 16 ga sheet and the plasma cutter is like magic cutting that. If you need to make straight cuts through thick metal and have the time, use a band saw, if you need to cut something to fit or make bolt holes the plasma cutter is awesome. With a little practice you can save yourself a lot of drilling time and broken drill bits by cutting the holes instead. If you need to cut thick metal (3/8, 1/2 etc) you need to be patient. If you hurry it you will be frustrated. OXY cutting is fast, expensive and really hot, this plasma cutter cut open nitrogen tanks and empty propane tanks.
