Light, powerful and effective
Very effective in removing paint from my house exterior -- is light and powerful, stayed cool even after extended use.
Used with 7" sanding pads instead of 5" pads. The 5" pads were not nearly as effective as the 7" pads, plus the Makita variety were fairly expensive and hard to find. My only two issues is (1) there is no spindle lock to assist in removing 3rd-party accessories (i.e., Alpha Pro Tools flexible loop & hook backer pad), and (2) doesn't use the standard 5/8" arbor (is 1/4"). The 5" and 7" abrasive pads from Home Depot have a 5/8" hole which makes it tricky to center on the Makita GV5010.
I had originally purchased a couple of cheap angle grinders from Harbor Freight and found that they were way too heavy for extended use, plus they got really hot. Makita was definitely worth the extra $$$ for me.
