Just what I needed!
My coming to purchase this item started with a search for a table top alcohol lamp. I needed a small heat source that was affordable for my laboratory. I had a hot plate, but I need an open flame source that wasn't as powerful as my Bunsen burner.
After having looked for alcohol lamps, I quickly found that any decent one with an adjustable knob + the cost of replacement wicks would have cost me as much as any butane torch, and I was damn sure not going to pay 25 dollars for a cheap alcohol lamp. Do these not see any use in small experiments anymore? An alcohol lamp to me is useless if I cannot control the wick via a knob. But I digress.
I went looking for a laboratory specific Butane torch, one I could place directly beneath a flask and adjust intensity of the flame. Well, being that I was on a budget I didn't find anything <$50.00 that fit my needs. Why pay more anyhow? They are simple devices that dispense butane at a 90 degree angle. I then went on to look...
