not great for woodcarving into med to hard wood
i'm using this 1/6th horsepower sr series foredom kit and find it does not carve/cut easily through anything but soft wood. and i don't carve on soft wood so i'm very disappointed with how much effort and how slow the going is on the woods that i like to work with. i'm engraving on beech and butternut wood and i can't use the 3/32 burrs they just break after an hour or so....so i use 1/8 burrs and try the diamond and tunstun cut the best but still is very slow.....so very unhappy and am looking to upgrade to more horsepower so will probably invest in the 1/3 horsepowwer tx series by fordom....hopefully i'll beable to breeze through my designs with lots more ease. so if you are going to be doing work on med to hard wood this sr series motors are not going to work well for you.
