This is my first welder, and also my first arc welding since high-school shop forty years ago.
I am delighted to report that in about one week I've got things sorted out and, without any additional schooling beyond a diy book, I'm already doing production work in brass.
I've got at least ten hours on it and the welder has worked perfectly and I'm happy with it.

I thought it a good idea to get the updated 2013 model. The dual voltage feature will allow me to work at remote sites (think RV plug ins).
The 185 machine was selected over a 200 machine because the 110V primary power drawl (with output derated to 160A) comes in just under a 30A breaker.
Primary current requirements at the 110/220 levels are listed on the company site. The on/off switch is on the back panel and the box adapts automatically to the primary voltage level.
Fyi, it turned out that my detailed tig work in brass was only in the 15 to 40A range.
